Living in San Carlos actually involves two opportunities for Spring-cleaning. November is the time of year that we once again turn off our air conditioners and open our doors and windows to the cooler and less humid climate. And, we have the usual Spring-cleaning season arriving very soon. This is when we get prepared to close up our doors and windows and make sure that our mini-splits (air conditioning units) are in good working order. Now is the time to clean out our closets and donate clothes and shoes that we no longer use and that would benefit others.
I have started my Spring-cleaning a bit earlier than usual and I’ve gone through all my closets, drawers, and even my file cabinets. Things that no longer serve a purpose I’ve given away. This frees up space, keeps my home organized and more efficient. There is nothing worse than a closet that is so packed that you cannot easily remove a hanger. If you haven’t worn an item of clothing for a year it’s a good sign that it’s time to let it go to someone who will actually wear it!
Likewise with bathroom cabinets and linen closets. Sheets, towels, unused toiletries and makeup are great items to donate. These are things that are somewhat expensive in Mexico and are very welcome gifts.
Comfortable living and organized closets and cabinets go hand in hand. “Small is the new big” and that applies to how much “stuff” we have. Spring-cleaning can be an enjoyable process because you not only de-clutter your home you also share what you no longer use with others and that’s what I call a win-win!
